Taku-Tori > The sun is just setting as we pass Isla Malpelo to starboard. Isla Malpelo owned by Columbia and is classified as a reserve. We weren´t permitted to land. Malpelo is a small Pacific Island approximately 300 miles southwest of Panama.
Taku-Tori > We celebrated our equator crossing with a bottle of good champagne.
Naturally, Neptune received the first glass!
Taku-Tori > Our crossing of the Equator. Note the latitude 000.00.000 - the Equator.
Taku-Tori > The equatorial doldrums, large windless areas were ever-present and as a result we consumed much more fuel than expected. Our engine ran 24 hrs a day for 7 days straight. We arrived in the Galapagos with a bit less than 50% fuel remaining.
Taku-Tori > After 8 days at sea our first Galapagos landfall looms out of the morning fog.
We are very glad to have long range radar onboard.
Taku-Tori > Meet Mr. Sea Lion. A local resident of Wreck Bay, Isla San Cristobel.

Tomorrow we are going on a Sea Lion swimming adventure tour.
Taku-Tori > Another day dawns in the doldrums as a shark swirls in our wake at sunrise.
We are 600 miles offshore and 400 miles to go to the Galapagos Islands.
Taku-Tori > On arrival in the Galapagos Islands the local welcoming commitee came charging out to greet us!
Taku-Tori > These boys are everywhere; if they aren´t fishing and playing, they are sleeping.
